President & Chief Executive Officer

As president and CEO of Ecova, Jana Schmidt is responsible for maintaining a clear vision for the company as the leader in total energy and sustainability management. Jana is recognized as a proven leader with a depth of experience in sales and client advocacy who can grow companies through driving results and enhanced customer loyalty to become leaders in their
respective industries.

"Bringing the benefits of Ecova’s full product and service offerings to our clients will enable them to better understand their resource use, lower their costs, and improve environmental performance."

Prior to becoming president and CEO, Jana was responsible for driving revenue growth as head of the sales and client management teams. She also led operations for Ecova’s foundational expense and data management service. Before joining Ecova, Jana was Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Harland Clarke Corp. In that role, she led a national sales, client management and marketing organization that served over 11,000 clients in the financial services industry with over $1 billion in revenue. Prior to this role, Jana led Marketing Services within Harland Clarke, responsible for sales and operational leadership, including call center management. Jana also served as Vice President of Business Development for Harland, leading the company’s organic growth strategies for its three business segments which included integrating acquisitions and developing cross sell methodologies across
the organization.

Jana holds a B.S. in psychology from Colorado State University. She sits on the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Georgia and the National Diversity Council named Jana Schmidt one of 2010’s Most Powerful and Influential Women of Georgia.

When she is not leading Ecova, Jana loves spending time with her family and is an avid tennis player and a beginner golfer.

Donato Capobianco

Donato Capobianco

Senior Vice President & General Manager - Utility Solutions & General Counsel

Donato leads the Ecova Utility Solutions team as it helps utilities achieve their savings goals and increase customer loyalty through targeted, personalized and cost effective programs that deliver value and make it easy for their customers to conserve energy. Donato also oversees the legal department, which provides counsel on a wide variety of matters for Ecova.

"Ecova understands the complex utility industry and the requirements of our clients to balance customers’ growing energy needs with energy efficiency programs.”

Prior to joining Ecova in 2010, Donato was senior vice president and general counsel for Hollywood Entertainment Corporation/Movie Gallery, Inc. At Hollywood, Donato supervised both the legal and real estate departments and was the head of the company's utility department, where he partnered with Ecova for several years to help manage the company’s energy needs. Before that, Donato worked as a transactional attorney in law firm practice. He started his career as a Certified Public Accountant at a large multinational accounting firm.

Donato graduated Summa Cum Laude with his B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law.

In his free time, Donato enjoys exploring Oregon with his wife and two young children, especially the Columbia River Gorge.

Julie Kearney

Julie Kearney

Senior Vice President, Human Resources

As senior vice president of human resources, Julie Kearney is responsible for attracting, developing, motivating and retaining talent at Ecova. She leverages her 20-plus years of human resource and organizational development experience to direct all human resource operations, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits employee training and development, leadership development, employee relations, employment policies and human resource systems.

Under her leadership, Ecova has been able to attract many talented, smart colleagues who are committed to the company's mission, strategic vision and who work collaboratively to make a positive difference in the world.

Prior to joining Ecova in 2007, Julie worked as a human resources consultant focusing on clients in the energy industry, such as PacifiCorp/Scottish Power and Ecos. Julie's experience also includes more than 10 years managing both domestic and international human resource initiatives and teams for Fortune 500 energy companies, such as PGE, Enron Broadband and Enron North America.

Julie holds a B.S. in business management and human resources management from the School of Business Administration at Portland State University.

A beach lover, Julie and her family spend as much time as possible at their house on the Oregon Coast.

Lauren Kirkley

Vice President of Business
Performance Management

Lauren is responsible for coordinating and supporting key business processes across Ecova, including the annual planning and operational performance monitoring cycles, while also providing oversight for our Internal Audit department. Additionally, Lauren leads the Project Management Office (PMO), Enterprise Risk Management, and Health and Safety for Ecova.

Prior to joining Ecova in 2012, Lauren spent 10 years with Harland Clarke Holdings Corporation. As vice president of Internal Audit, she led a team responsible for the Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance program and an audit plan covering financial, information technology, security, compliance and operational risks. Lauren’s experience also includes two years of business process risk consulting at Andersen LLP.

Lauren is a Certified Internal Auditor and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management from Clemson University. Lauren loves being a mom, and when she is not working she enjoys playing just about anything outdoors and taking trips to the beach with family.

Olivier de Jonghe d'Ardoye

Olivier de Jonghe d’Ardoye

Chief Financial Officer

As the company's top finance executive, Olivier de Jonghe d'Ardoye ensures that the company's strategy is in line with its financial health. Leading the finance and accounting groups, Olivier is responsible for financial plans and policies, fiscal controls, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and corporate investments. He also works closely with the rest of the management team on mergers and acquisitions.

Olivier joined SUEZ in 2000 and most recently held the position of CFO for the GDF SUEZ Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Business Unit (BU) where he had responsibility for Back Office, Middle Office & Risk Control, Business Control, Process & Internal Control and Technology. Organizationally, Olivier has been part of multiple teams at GDF SUEZ headquarters as well as GDF SUEZ Energy International Business Line and the GDF SUEZ LNG Business Unit. Prior to joining SUEZ in 2000, Olivier held multiple positions in Europe and the US within the banking and energy industries.

Olivier holds a Master’s degree from Solvay Business School at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and has recently moved from Paris to the United States to fulfill the CFO role at Ecova.

A native of Belgium, Olivier speaks French, Dutch and English and enjoys spending time with his family, wine tasting and reading historic fiction when he’s not working from the Spokane headquarters
of Ecova.

Seth Nesbitt

Senior Vice President, Sales,
Marketing & Strategy

Seth is responsible for Ecova’s sales, marketing and business development teams, helping the company solidify their position as a trusted advisor in the evolving energy and sustainability management market. Seth leads the team that is responsible for bringing to market compelling and innovative solutions that grow results for Ecova’s clients on their efforts to save resources.

Joining Ecova in 2010 from Parallels, Inc., a fast-growing cloud computing firm, Seth had an established track record working with companies in high- and hyper-growth stages. At Parallels, Seth led marketing for the company's B2B division. Prior to that, he was vice president of products and solutions marketing for Amdocs, Inc., a $3.6 billion software and solutions provider for the telecommunications sector. Before that, he held field marketing and corporate communications positions in Nortel Networks, which was acquired by Amdocs.

Seth holds a B.A. in history from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN and an M.B.A. from Oxford University in Oxford, England.

When he is not working, Seth enjoys spending time with his family, reading real books (not in electronic format) and fly-fishing in the crisp rivers of the Pacific Northwest.

Bob Zak

Bob Zak

Senior Vice President, Facility Solutions

As senior vice president of Facility Solutions, Bob is responsible for helping our clients gain insights to make informed decisions about energy and utility usage across their entire portfolio, as well as providing mechanisms  for reducing consumption, cost, and carbon footprint. He oversees over 230 employees in the facility optimization, resource analytics, procurement, rates, lease, waste, and carbon & sustainability departments.

Bob brings over 20 years of experience in the facility automation and energy management sectors. Prior to joining Ecova in 2012, Bob was a founder, president and general manager of Powerit Solutions, an international cleantech company providing energy management systems and services to the industrial and commercial markets. Prior to that, Bob spent 12 years at a large regional factory automation firm serving as vice president of sales and marketing, where he was responsible for building sales channels into industrial, utility and commercial markets.

His thoughts on energy efficiency have been published widely in many industry publications, including The Seattle Times, ManagingAutomation.com and Greentech Media. He has authored numerous industry white papers on energy management and is a frequent speaker at conferences nationwide.

Bob holds a B.S. in industrial distribution from Central Washington University and attended the University of Alabama Birmingham’s School of Business special studies industrial distribution program.

Outside of the office, Bob enjoys spending time with his family, juggling their dance and soccer schedules, and squeezing in some hunting and fishing.
