Results through Corporate Responsibility

Jana Schmidt

I’m honored to share that today Ecova released its 2014 Corporate Responsibility Report. As a company, we recommend and implement best practices for our clients to “See More, Save More and Sustain More.” It is equally important that we adopt and implement comparable solutions here at Ecova—that’s why making a public commitment to corporate responsibility is such an important and strategic step for us.

Last year, we publicly committed to four goals for 2014-2015―one for each of our key areas of responsibility: Employees, Clients, Community, and Environment. Our new Corporate Responsibility Report highlights our progress to date:

It’s clear that we are moving in the right direction to hit our 2014-2015 Corporate Responsibility goals. A few details stand out to me:

EMPLOYEES:

I’m so pleased to know that we’ve logged nearly 30,000 hours of training and professional development. Our goal is to reach 70,000 hours by the end of 2015, so we will support our employees in taking advantage of Ecova-run development programs and our Employee Education Reimbursement Program.

CLIENTS:

Our work is founded on the mission of helping our clients reduce resource impact—both financial and environmental—and we’re succeeding, as proof by the incredible progress we’re reporting. We’re thrilled to partner with our clients, who believe in using resources efficiently for a better outcome for all.

COMMUNITY:

I’m proud of how involved we are in our communities—we’ve volunteered over 8,500 hours to 300 organizations. It’s important to me that Ecova gives back to each of the communities where we have a presence. That is why I’m such a strong proponent of our Community Service Day benefit, which provides a paid day per year to every employee to volunteer for the non-profit or educational organization of their choice.

ENVIRONMENT:

We are nearly halfway to meeting our environmental goal! To get here, we’ve added energy management portals to better track our footprint, implemented office efficiency improvements and efficiently managed business travel.
I encourage you to read though our 2014 Corporate Responsibility Report to learn more about our progress to date. The Report highlights actions that helped get us where we are today and the initiatives that will get us where we need to be. It’s rich with great information and stories that speak to the value of Ecova and the many benefits we offer as a company.
