As organizations consider new construction, retrofit, equipment and IT investments, they should simultaneously be considering whether their utility providers offer rebate opportunities that align with the project(s). Of course, obtaining a rebate for making energy-efficient choices isn’t as easy as simply asking for it. Reaping the reward often requires significant effort in the form of equal parts diligent research, administrative detail, and understanding of institutional requirements in the utility space. In this paper, we explore four common energy efficiency opportunities offered by utilities: prescription, custom, new construction, and IT/data center.
As we discuss each opportunity, we provide guidance on how to take advantage of them in a way that optimizes the rebate and contributes to the overall ROI on energy efficiency projects.
